Jeanne Moore-yount - for county commissioner
As a career news media executive, I am a high energy, experienced sales and marketing executive with a proven track record for exceeding goals, producing operational results and finding solutions to difficult problems. Throughout my career, I've developed and led high performance teams, worked to exceed customer service expectations, maximized human resources, and established and implemented new ideas throughout the organizations I've served. My collaborative management style is driven by my desire to reach out to those most affected by the decisions that I had to make and I pledge to do the same as your county commissioner.
I’ve been a resident for 25 years and moved to Crawford County when I accepted the Meadville Tribune’s publisher title from 1994-2007. I’ve cherished the opportunity to serve on numerous boards and civic organizations including 12 years on the Meadville Chamber Board and acted as the Vice Chair of Board Development. I served on a county initiated economic development action committee, the Meadville Medical Hospital board, the Crawford County Tourist Association Board, co-chaired the Meadville Rotary Grand Prix which then awarded tens of thousands of dollars to deserving charities in the county. I twice served as United Way’s fundraising co-chair, exceeding our campaign goals both years and I served on the United Way Allocation Committee. I was honored by the Meadville YWCA as the Business and Industry Woman of the Year.
The challenges that confront us unite us more than divide us. My campaign will seek to work across political party, gender, racial, religious, social and economic lines. Crawford County families struggle with limited budgets and I’m going to focus on finding alternative revenue streams rather than continuing to adding more tax burdens. We are dealing with a declining population, median household incomes below the state average and a 14.5% poverty rate. A formula that is simply not sustainable.
We also face a heroin and opioid epidemic that not only takes the lives of our citizens but destroys families forever. I’ve seen first hand the devastation of losing our beloved children and family members to these addictions. I will support and interact with Crawford County Drug and Alcohol and work on stronger communication channels with the community at large to find solutions to this epidemic.
As your county commissioner, I will always research the issue, demand and develop several common-sense solutions with input from county offices and openly communicate possible outcomes by taking the issues to town halls and interacting with all communities within the county. I promise to always seek out and listen to your feedback, explain my decisions, and act with fiscal responsibility. I will commit to always keep the best interest of our families and communities in the forefront as we address the challenges that Crawford County faces.
